Drinking chocolate from our Bean-to-Bar manufactory

Drinking chocolate from our Bean-to-Bar manufactory

With us, the entire ground cocoa bean goes into the tube, from 70 to 100 percent cocoa, instead of instant powder. Because the cocoa butter remains, the hot chocolate becomes creamy, without any thickeners or flavorings. The ingredients list contains only cocoa beans and raw cane sugar from certified organic farming — nothing else.

Three origins, three characters
As with our chocolate bars, we work with Single Origin cocoa here too, meaning beans from a single, named origin. Tanzania 70% from the Kokoa-Kamili cooperative in the Kilombero Valley brings fruity notes and gentle sweetness, close to the classic hot chocolate of childhood. Much more intense is the Nicaragua 80% from the O’Tuma project, where the cocoa clearly takes center stage. The Uganda 100% from the Semuliki Forest contains no sugar at all, for those who want pure cocoa without anything added.

Preparation
Heat milk or a plant-based drink, stir in the drinking chocolate, and continue stirring until everything is completely melted. Those who prefer a more intense flavor can use less liquid or choose the 80% or 100% varieties. Prepared with water, the cocoa flavor of each origin comes through most directly; with milk, the cup becomes rounder and milder. No recipe with exact gram measurements is needed — simply adjust the amount to taste.

The Uganda 100%
It consists exclusively of ground cocoa beans, without any additions, and still tastes surprisingly well-rounded because a carefully fermented and gently roasted bean naturally contains many layers of flavor. For anyone looking for full cocoa flavor without sweetness, this is the most direct path.

Cocoa to drink, as it was meant to be
Before chocolate became a bar, it was a beverage for centuries. This is where we pick up: drinking chocolate as an independent pleasure, not as a sweet instant powder. The difference can be experienced in the cup, because only the whole bean brings the full melt and complete aroma of its region.

As a gift
A tube of drinking chocolate is an uncomplicated gift for anyone who loves chocolate and already has everything. A combination of one tube and one of our Bean-to-Bar chocolate bars works especially well, allowing the same origin to be experienced once as a drink and once as a bite.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Ground, solid chocolate to stir into hot liquid. Unlike cocoa powder, from which most of the cocoa butter has been removed, our drinking chocolate is made from the whole ground cocoa bean and becomes creamy in the cup as a result.

  • Cocoa powder is defatted cocoa with most of the cocoa butter removed. Our drinking chocolate contains the whole bean, including the cocoa butter, which makes the cup creamier and the flavor more complex.

  • Yes. With water, the cocoa flavor of the origin comes through most clearly; with milk or a plant-based drink, the cup becomes rounder.

  • The Tanzania 70%: fruity, balanced, and close to the classic hot chocolate. Those who prefer a stronger flavor can choose Nicaragua 80%, while those looking for pure cocoa should go for Uganda 100%.

The same cocoa is also available to enjoy as pure Single Origin chocolate bars. And how cocoa beans become chocolate in the first place is something we show in our Bean-to-Bar Workshop at our manufactory.
